This morning a potential client was telling us that she wants to “drive a lot of traffic” to her new website. And although it is a well-funded firm there is no dedicated web staff. The question arises: At her current staffing level, who will interact with potential new customers while remaining interactive with valuable existing customers?
We decided that before increasing activity on her site, through a combination of Social Media products and SEO, she needs to have a team in place to care for the current customers and to interact with the new customers that will engage her services with the increased traffic on her site. She needs to hire internal staff or a Social Media firm.
My favorite, and perhaps overused, phrase is “proper planning prevents poor performance.” This is usually utilized when someone has not packed a needed item for a meeting or a trip. But it is so appropriate for Social Media. Be ready to interact with your customers — this is Web 2.0 : They expect it.
